Free Haven
Free Haven is the central hub of Enroth and the seat of the High Council — the political heart of the main quest. Its overlord is Lord Osric Temper, who rules from Castle Temper southeast of the city. The region is rated easy on the outdoor map (the only roamers are Archers and Mages), but it hides some of the game's most important dungeons and, beneath the Council building, the Oracle of Enroth that drives the endgame. The area resets every 24 months.
You first arrive on the early town circuit (Stage 2) to grab horseshoes, bows and three town quests, then return on the spell run (Stage 5) to buy the four logistics spells (Fly, Town Portal, Jump, Lloyd's Beacon) from the western elemental guilds — the single most important shopping trip in the game. Free Haven then becomes your travel hub for the grand tour (Stage 8). The big clear is the promotion finale (Stage 10), when you run the four city dungeons. Late game it is your base for closing the Council and meeting the Oracle (Stage 12), seating the four memory crystals (Stage 13), and finally raiding the Control Center for the Blasters (Stage 15).

Quests
Retrieve Ethric's Skull
[stage]Giver: Gabriel Cartman (Free Haven, side quest 13)
A Free Haven town quest from Gabriel Cartman in northwest Free Haven. The skull lies deep in the Tomb of Ethric the Mad west of the city, guarded by Ethric himself and a pack of Lichs; turn it in at the Free Haven temple once you clear the tomb at promotion level (reward 7,500gp and 15,000 XP).
Find the lost artifact (Mordred)
[stage]Giver: Zoltan Phelps (Free Haven, quest 19)
Recover the artifact dagger Mordred, the best dagger in the game, from a chest deep in Dragoon's Keep south/west of the city. Turn it in at Free Haven for the experience reward.
Capture the Prince of Thieves
[stage]Giver: Lord Anthony Stone (Frozen Highlands; resolved in Free Haven)
Lord Stone's High Council quest. The Prince of Thieves hides in the Free Haven Sewers — but only after you have chased him through the earlier thief lairs (Dragoon's Caverns and the Shadow Guild in Castle Ironfist, then the Shadow Guild in the Frozen Highlands). Click the bed in the secret room off the right-hand passage to take him, then walk him back to Castle Stone.
Rebuild the Free Haven Temple
[stage]Giver: Lord Anthony Stone (Cleric -> Priest promotion)
The burned-out temple in Free Haven is the Cleric promotion errand. Hire the Carpenter (house NW of the Alchemy store) and the Stonecutter (house just west of the ruined temple) and walk both into the temple to rebuild it, then see Lord Stone in the Frozen Highlands for Priest. His follow-up (seat the Sacred Chalice in the rebuilt temple) promotes to High Priest.
Visit the Altar of the Moon (Arch Druid)
[stage]Giver: Lady Loretta Fleise (Silver Cove; resolved in Free Haven)
The honorary Arch Druid promotion. After clearing the Temple of the Moon NW of Free Haven and completing Fleise's Circle of Stones equinox quest, return at midnight on a full moon and touch the Altar of the Moon to be promoted.
Clear the Devil Outpost (Osric Temper's council quest)
[stage]Giver: Lord Osric Temper (Castle Temper)
Temper's High Council vote. The 'Devil Outpost' is the Demon Lair in Kriegspire; kill the Devil of Baa for the Devil Plans quest item and bring it back to Lord Temper at Castle Temper to secure the last council vote.
Expose Slicker Silvertongue (the traitor)
[stage]Giver: High Council / Regent Humphrey
With all six lords' votes, Representative Slicker Silvertongue blocks your seat on the Council. Speak to him in the Council room first, get the Cloak of Baa from Humphrey, retrieve the Letter from Zenofex in Kriegspire's Superior Temple of Baa, and present it back at the Free Haven Council to expose him — your reputation jumps to Saintly and the Oracle opens.
Meet the Oracle; recover the Memory Crystals & Control Cube
[stage]Giver: Oracle of Enroth (beneath the High Council)
The endgame quest chain. The Oracle in the Free Haven Council building charges you with seating four Memory Crystals (Alpha, Beta, Delta, Epsilon) in its corridors and recovering the Control Cube from the Tomb of VARN. Each crystal is worth 100,000 XP. Delivering the Cube unlocks the final Control Center and Hive objectives.

Touching each altar also grants a permanent +5 to that stat for the whole party.

Puzzle solution
The plaque reads: "Life above all, Accuracy before Might, Endurance before Speed, and finally, Luck." Pray at the six stat altars in that exact order. Each altar checks the previous one was done; a correct touch grants +5 to that stat, a wrong one deals damage and permanently spoils the puzzle. Only the right sequence opens the gated door.
- Altar of Life
- Altar of Accuracy
- Altar of Might
- Altar of Endurance
- Altar of Speed
- Altar of Luck
Doing all six correctly opens the door. Separately, the Altar of the Moon only responds at midnight (quest-gated).
When: now (Stage 15, after the Control Cube) [cleared in stage]
Robot dungeon opened by the Oracle once the Control Cube is delivered. Every unit is Magic- and Poison-immune (physical/arrows/Blasters only) and every hit breaks an item (bring Repair). Learn the Blaster (Ancient Weapons) skill at the wall panel, grab a Blaster and three Blaster Rifles. Terminator Units can Eradicate a character in one hit — pull them around corners.

When: optional (lower-tier Baa temple in the south of the region) [cleared in stage]
A minor Baa temple marked in the southwest of the region (near Dragoons' Keep) on the pottsland and rpggamers maps, holding the usual Acolyte/Cleric/Priest of Baa line. It is not one of rpggamers' detailed walkthrough dungeons and is not a required main- or promotion-quest dungeon; included for completeness.

NPCs & Shops
The Council & Oracle. The big High Council building in the south of the city is where you seek your seat once all six lords back you; Slicker Silvertongue sits here as the traitor representative, and beneath it lies the Oracle of Enroth (touch the entrance panel, then the middle panel, descend the stairs, click the dark void). Lord Osric Temper rules from Castle Temper southeast of the city (also the Master Plate trainer on its roof).
Western elemental guilds (the spell shop). The cluster of guilds on the west side sell the full elemental spellbook range; crucially the Air Guild sells Fly and Jump and the Water Guild sells Town Portal and Lloyd's Beacon — the four logistics spells the whole walkthrough assumes. Memberships to the Body, Spirit, Mind, Fire, Air, Water and Earth guilds are all sold here cheaply (50gp each), and there are guild meditation/learning halls for spellbooks 1-10.
Shops & services. Multiple Weapon and Armor stores (southwest corner), Alchemist stores, a General store, a Bank, two stables (North and South coach stations), the Duelist's Edge guild (Bow, Chain, Shield, Bodybuilding, Mace), the Smuggler's Guild, and three Inns. Lawrence Aleman (south) buys Temple Gongs; horseshoe pickups sit in the two stables.
Fountains, Shrine & Obelisk. A permanent +2 Might fountain (Well, map #7), a temporary +25 HP fountain (map #21), and a 'release monsters' trap fountain are in town; the sewers hold a +10 HP Well. The Shrine of Accuracy (active in May, with the Castle Ironfist Seer's hint) is in the southeast. Obelisk #8 sits due south of the Tomb of Ethric the Mad, over the mountain (for the obelisk quest in Stage 11). There is also a Town Portal landing point in town and a Dragon Tower (used for the Dragon Tower Keys quest).
Secrets
Show spoiler β Temple of the Moon β six-altar touch order
After every altar room is cleared, touch the altars in this exact order to open the big doors: Life (east) → Accuracy (southwest) → Might (southeast) → Endurance (northeast) → Speed (west) → Luck (northwest). This matches the plaque clue: "Life first, accuracy then might, endurance then speed, and finally luck." Each altar also gives a permanent +5 to that stat for the whole party.
Show spoiler β Free Haven Sewers β Sewer Key and the Prince's secret room
At the row of small sewer grates on the west path, click the first grate to find the Sewer Key, then double back to loot behind the locked door. To reach the Prince of Thieves: from the grates head south, take the first right, work as far west as you can, at the T-junction go north then west into the room that darkens, click the odd-looking back wall to open the secret room, then click the bed to take the Prince. The sewers also hide a teleporter to the Supreme Temple of Baa on Hermit's Isle (its secret door opens from the temple side).
Show spoiler β Lloyd's Beacon free teleport to Castle Alamos
With the Lloyd's Beacon spellbook open on the Recall Beacon page, click an empty book slot instead of a set beacon and you are teleported free of charge to Castle Alamos in the Eel Infested Waters — handy when the Oracle later sends you there for Memory Crystal Beta.
Show spoiler β Control Center β learning the Blaster skill
Take the first left inside the Control Center and destroy the three Patrol units, then click the wall panel (Computer Terminal) once — a single activation teaches the whole party the Blaster ("Ancient Weapons") skill (it only fires once, so there is no need for each character to click it). The first right-hand room then holds a Blaster in its chest. Use Telekinesis to reach the corner chest holding the third Blaster Rifle.

- Tomb of Ethric Lichs (100-280 HP, Poison- & Magic-immune) and Ethric β kill with melee and bows (they Dispel your buffs); drops Ethric's Skull and many coffin chests

- Temple of the Moon Medusas/Gorgons (227-337 HP, Magic-immune, petrify) β never melee without Stone-to-Flesh ready; fight only what blocks the path
- Control Center Terminator Units (1080 HP, Magic-immune) β they Eradicate a character in one hit (only a Resurrect cures it); never pick a fight with one off the loot path, pull them around corners
