Sweet Water

Sweet Water is an endgame-tier wilderness in the far northwest of Enroth — the "infamous Sweet Water badlands." There is no functioning town here: it is the broken Village of Sweet Water, an open map patrolled by Devils, with the alien Hive (the Devil's Tower) perched on a mountain to the north. It has no Overlord and no trainers, and resets every 8 months. You reach it on foot from Blackshire — leave Blackshire's northwest corner to cross into Sweet Water (or head northwest from Blackshire toward the mountain) — and fly the rest; neither Town Portal nor a beacon drops you here directly.

You visit Sweet Water in exactly two stages. Mid-late (stage 11, roughly level 26-32) you fly in to place a statuette on the Sweet Water pedestal and to touch the region's obelisk on the oblong lake, both for Twillen's loose-ends quests — pure touch-and-go, fly past the Devils. At the very end (stage 15, level 40-50) you return to climb the mountain and storm the Hive: destroy the Reactor with Blasters, kill the Demon Queen, and exit the void with the Ritual of the Void scroll to win the game.

Quests

Place the Sweet Water statuette (Twillen's five-statuette quest)

[stage]

Giver: Twillen (Blackshire house) — chest of five statuettes

One of Twillen's five statuette pedestals sits in Sweet Water. From Blackshire, exit the northwest corner into Sweet Water and fly north and a little west to an oblong lake (touch the obelisk here), then fly to the northeast corner and west along the northern border to find the pedestal and place the statuette — the fourth of the five if you placed Bootleg Bay, Mire and Kreigspire on the earlier tour. With all five placed (the last is in Dragonsand's southwest village) the reward chest outside the large eastern house in Blackshire unlocks. None of the pedestals are reachable by Town Portal, so this means flying hostile terrain.

The Obelisk Quest (touch Sweet Water's obelisk)

[stage]

Giver: Self-recognized (no giver) — one obelisk per region

Sweet Water holds one of the fifteen obelisks (the walkthrough touches it among the very first — from Blackshire's northwest corner fly north and a little west to the oblong lake, and the obelisk sits on its west side; a trapped chest full of gold sits across the water). It is part of the unassigned obelisk quest: physically click all fifteen obelisks across Enroth and the game assembles their messages into a riddle that activates the Dragonsand cache. Knowing the answer alone does nothing — you must touch every obelisk, this one included.

Destroy the Hive (the Oracle's final quest)

[stage]

Giver: The Oracle (Free Haven council)

After you deliver the Control Cube, the Oracle's last objective is to destroy the reactor inside the Hive near Sweet Water and slay the Demon Queen. Climb the mountain north and slightly west of the broken village, enter the Hive, work the safe pads against the periodic Flush, gather the Hive Sanctum Key, blow the Reactor with Blasters, and kill the Demon Queen. Walk into the void to her east carrying the Ritual of the Void scroll for the winning ending — this is the final quest of the game.

Dungeons

πŸ—Ί The Hive (Devil's Tower) hard to very hard — but trivial once you have Expert Blasters, the safe pads and the endless-HP barrel

When: later (stage 15, finale; ~level 40-50; needs Blasters) [cleared in stage]

North and slightly west of the broken village, atop the mountain. UNIQUE rule: Town Portal, Lloyd's Beacon and resting all stop working inside — bring full HP/SP supplies and repair beforehand. Stand on the blue safe pads to dodge the hourly Flush. Drop through the main-room holes for switches, chests and the HIVE SANCTUM KEY; unlock the door, ride the elevator to the Reactor (1300 HP, Blasters only), then kill the Demon Queen (1300 HP). Exit the void WITH the Ritual of the Void scroll to win.

NPCs & Shops

Sweet Water has no town, no shops, no guilds and no trainers — it is the broken Village of Sweet Water, with no Overlord and no Expert or Master teachers (the region resets every 8 months). Its only "inhabitants" are the Devils that roam the outdoor map (Devil Captains, Masters and Kings) and the demons defending the Hive.

Landmarks: the obelisk on the west side of the oblong lake (one of the fifteen for the obelisk quest), a trapped chest full of gold on the far side of that lake, the statuette pedestal along the northern border in the northwest, and the Hive dungeon (the Devil's Tower) on the mountain to the north. There is no fountain or Overlord building here.

Secrets

Show spoiler β€” The Hive's endless hit-point barrel (free healing in a no-rest dungeon)

Because you cannot rest or teleport out of the Hive, this is its single most useful secret. Drop into the front left-hand hole in the main room and follow the passage; where it turns north there is a room on the left with a safe pad and a barrel that gives endless hit points. Click the barrel for 20 HP each time, as many times as you like — park your party here to top off between rooms instead of burning healing spell points. Combined with the safe pads and Expert Blasters, this turns the finale from grueling into routine.

Show spoiler β€” The Hive hole route, switches and the Sanctum Key

The exact route through the four holes in the main room:

  • Front left-hand hole — a chest sits on the right; this branch also hides the endless-HP barrel (above). Then go to the first door you passed, kill the devils and press its switch; the second door's switch "deactivates" the Flushing System (it doesn't truly stop the Flush, but pressing it teleports you back to the top).
  • Northern right-hand hole — ignore the two side paths and loop all the way around to a room to the north; its chest holds treasure and the HIVE SANCTUM KEY. Follow it back out to the main room.
  • Northwest hole — you're ambushed in the corridor; press the switch in the first right-hand alcove, push into the big room, clear it and grab the chest.
  • Center hole — it opens after you run the hallway from the top ledge near the entrance; the room at the end is packed with devils and higher demons, with a west path to one more switch.

With every switch pressed and the Sanctum Key in hand, return to the heaviest-defended room and unlock the door to the Reactor elevator.

Show spoiler β€” The Reactor and the Demon Queen (Blasters + corner trick)

The Reactor (about 1300 HP) is immune to every element AND magic AND physical — only Blasters touch it. Step into its room, fire a few shots, and retreat before it can hit back; repeat until it blows. Destroying it elevates you to the top of the dungeon for the final fight. The Demon Queen (about 1300 HP, Fire- and Magic-immune, 50% physical resist) is actually weak — a couple of strong shots drop her — but all her minions rush in when the fight starts. The trick: enter her small chamber and back into the corner so only she is visible; the other demons stay confused in the outer room while you finish her. Grab her body when she falls.

Show spoiler β€” Win the game: exit the void WITH the Ritual of the Void scroll

With the reactor gone and the Demon Queen dead, the black void exit lies to the east of the queen. Save first, confirm the Ritual of the Void scroll (from freeing Archibald) is in your inventory, and walk into the void with it — this triggers the winning ending (a globe contains the explosion, the world is saved, Prince Nicolai knights your party). Exiting without the scroll gives the alternate "world destroyed" ending instead: the reactor's chain reaction consumes the planet. The scroll is the difference between saving Enroth and blowing it up.

Combat

βš” What to clear / skip

βœ… Clear

  • The Hive — Devil Captains/Masters (180/400 HP) in each room: pull them to a blue safe pad and snipe one at a time; they fly and are Fire-immune, so use Blasters, arrows or non-fire magic, and top off at the endless-HP barrel between rooms
  • The Hive — the Reactor (1300 HP): the mandatory Blasters-only kill; it is immune to all elements, magic AND physical, so nothing else works
  • The Hive — the Demon Queen (1300 HP, Fire/Magic-immune, 50% Phys): corner her in her chamber so her minions stay confused, then burn her down
